Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Listening Copy (the "Service"), operated from Iceland. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service does

Listening Copy lets you store audio, deliver it to recipients by link or email, optionally embed an inaudible forensic watermark identifying a recipient, and optionally protect links with a password or expiry. You are responsible for everything you upload and send.

2. Your content and your responsibility

You keep all rights to the audio you upload. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, process, watermark, transcode and deliver it on your instruction. You represent that you own or are licensed to use and distribute everything you upload and send, and that your use complies with all applicable laws. You are solely responsible for your files, your recipients, your messages, and the consequences of sending them.

3. Acceptable use

You will not use the Service to store or send material that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that you have no right to distribute; to harass anyone; to send unsolicited bulk mail or texts; or to attempt to breach, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service. We may suspend or remove content or accounts that, in our judgement, violate these Terms, without liability to you.

4. Watermarking & tracing: no guarantee

The watermark and tracing features are provided on a best-effort basis. Audio watermarking is probabilistic and can be degraded or destroyed by certain processing (for example heavy time-stretching, pitch-shifting, re-recording, or severe re-encoding). We do not guarantee that a watermark will survive, that a leak can be traced, or that any trace result is accurate, admissible, or fit for any legal or evidentiary purpose. You must not rely on it as your sole safeguard.

5. Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that files, links, or data will be preserved. Back up anything you cannot afford to lose. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

6. Payments & credits

Paid plans and credits are billed through our payment provider, who acts as merchant of record. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; cancelling stops future renewals and does not refund the current period. Purchased credits do not expire but have no cash value and are non-refundable except where law requires. Prices may change on notice for future billing periods.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage. No advice or information obtained from us creates any warranty not stated here.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Listening Copy and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or content, or for any leak, misuse, unauthorised access, or failure to trace, arising out of or relating to the Service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, and even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim, or (b) US $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; where that is so, the above apply to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

9. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Listening Copy and its operator from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. On termination your content may be deleted.

11. Changes & governing law

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date and, where practical, notified by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them. These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, and you submit to the courts of Reykjavík, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
