Listening Copy Guide
How to share unreleased music safely
Sending unreleased music always involves a tradeoff. The recipient needs a simple way to listen, but every extra copy and forwarded link increases the chance of losing control. The safest practical workflow is a private link that is easy for the intended recipient to open and easy for the sender to revoke.

Use a private link instead of a public upload
Public or unlisted links are convenient, but an unlisted URL can still be forwarded. A private delivery should let you set an expiry date, disable downloads, add a password and revoke access without replacing the audio everywhere else.
Give each recipient a separate copy
Do not send the same downloadable file to a large recipient list. Separate links make it possible to revoke one recipient without disrupting everyone else. Recipient-specific forensic watermarking can also place a traceable identifier inside each delivered audio copy.
Decide whether downloads are necessary
Browser listening is enough for many approvals, press previews and early pitches. If a recipient needs the master, enable lossless download for that delivery. Keeping downloads off by default reduces unnecessary copies without making the listening experience difficult.
Use expiry and revocation deliberately
Set an expiry that matches the purpose of the send. A short press preview and a long-running album collaboration do not need the same access window. If plans change, revoke the link immediately rather than relying on the recipient to delete a file.
Keep the recipient experience simple
Security only works when people use it. Recipients should be able to listen in a browser without creating an account. If you add a password, deliver it separately. Avoid forcing unnecessary steps on trusted collaborators.
A practical checklist
Listening Copy combines private browser playback, recipient-specific audio watermarking, lossless delivery controls, expiry and instant revocation. Recipients do not need an account.
- Upload the finished track, playlist or live folder.
- Create a separate delivery for each recipient.
- Turn on recipient-specific watermarking when the material is sensitive.
- Choose streaming, download permission, expiry and password settings.
- Send the private link and review its activity after delivery.
- Revoke access when the listening window is over.
Private music sharing that stays simple for the recipient.
